WOLFY DIE SLOW

Over the past two years, Wolfy has quietly been releasing tracks online, although there’s nothing quiet about her music, which is a vibrant patchwork of obscure instrumentation and the punk-ish undertones. The individual otherwise known as Wolfy, describes herself as a “songwriter/producer in love with great people, great music, and destroying inefficient systems,” the last of which comes through as clear as a riotous bell in ‘Die Slow’, with aid of the diverse vocal talents of Dolly Spectra. Listening to the powerful lyrics, ‘Die Slow’ is a rallying feminist cry against the consistent objectification, belittling and underestimation of women by men who believe they hold some divine right over 50% of the population. From the dreamy, pop verses that represent the false dream - 'in a perfect world, you own a million girls, all dressed in diamonds, and never say a word out of turn'. To the witchy vocals coming from the dark reality - 'you’re sick, you’re weak, you’re foul, you creek; don’t act so holy, like you’re Machiavelli'. You can’t help but hold your hands up to Wolfy on her excellent songwriting, executed with purpose and not giving a care as to how it should be done. This straight up “banger for maniacs,” as Wolfy herself calls it, is the first of five collaborations with different artists, to be put into an EP this March. -HT
